How to identify it

Rothschild's swift is about 15 cm (5.9 in) long. It has long, broad wings and a short squarish tail. Its plumage is a uniform medium brown. Voice: As of late 2022, xeno-canto had a single recording of a Rothschild's swift vocalization, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Macaulay Library had none. It reportedly makes a "short 'pip' or 'peep'" in flight.

When to see it

Best months: January, February, March, October, November, December, with peak activity in November. It is a summer visitor species across most of its range.
